Submitted by Tim Schulz on January 25, 2010 – Comments

TC_logoTechCrunch, one of the world’s largest tech blogs, was hacked at 10:40pm PST this evening. The hacker left a message that can be accessed via the URL of TechCrunch’s recent post about leaked photos of the Apple Tablet.

The hacker left a message that reads:

WHAT A FUCKING USELESS HACK ISN’T IT? BLEH.

Other pages of the site read:

We’ll be back shortly.

MG Siegler tweeted a link to the new post and shortly thereafter several users around the world reported that the site had been hacked.

We’ve reached out to a few contacts to get more details. If you have any information please post in the comments below.

  • They were hit my a mysql injection which is ridiculously easy to do an any site using mysql that is not coded properly. In the case of TechCrunch they are probably running some plug-in or hack that left them exposed. The core site was well built, but even one little plug-in can leave you open. This is the tutorial on how this is done: http://www.go4expert.com/forums/showthread.php?...
