Gobbler Launches for Audio Professionals

Gobbler, formerly Media Gobbler, recently launched its public beta and new site. Founded by Chris Kantrowitz and Jamie Kantrowitz, Gobbler solves common problems related to creating, managing, and sharing professional audio files.

Gobbler combines a desktop app along with a cloud based infrastructure to enable audio professionals to easily backup essential audio files, collaborate, and catalog/organize those files for easy access and sharing. This service appeals to both the established artist and aspiring artist. Imagine if you and your band spent hours recording the latest album and for whatever reason the usb drive with the high quality audio got damaged in transit. Most musicians would be out of luck and would have wished that the had a service like Gobbler.

While the company launched with one industry in mind, the music industry, I would imagine that expansion into additional mediums would be a natural next step such as photography, software, scripts and video. Essentially, anything that can be digitally created could benefit from the suite of features that Gobbler offers. All too often the Internet gives birth to companies that are consumer facing and companies that service the B2B markets are ignored. Well I can assure you that Gobbler is onto something that is scalable and probably very profitable given the subscription business model.
